I’m Deb Brown and I’m Ready to Represent Ward 9 at Kingston’s City Hall

Welcome, friends.

As a 26-year homeowner and resident of Kingston and Ward 9, I’ve seen the city and Ward go through many transformations. But nothing has transformed this city and ward more than the current economic recession. From government spending and economic development to public safety and quality of life, this “economic reset” is redefining Kingston.

Simply put, the old ways of doing things will no longer work. It’s time for change and if elected alderman of Ward 9, I would strive to:

  • Be a voice and advocate of residents, working to foster transparency and clarity in the lawmaking process
  • Instill smart spending, insuring that fiscal waste is eliminated and replaced with common sense budgeting
  • Reform taxes
  • Create cleaner streets and safer neighborhoods
  • Encourage public/private partnerships to bolster economic growth

Why I am the best candidate?

  • In my career in the health field my calling was to be an advocate for patients in dealing with insurance companies, physicians and even family members while rendering care
  • If  elected, I will do my best to represent Ward 9 on the Common Council. In addition, I will work with you to influence the decision-making process at City Hall
  • The will of the people in Ward 9 shall direct my voting on the Common Council. But in order to do that, I need your input. So communication with constituents will be a critical part of my job
  • As a result, I will do my best to keep you informed of what is going on at City Hall. I also encourage citizens to take part in council meetings either by being a spectator or through public speaking prior to Common Council meetings
  • I will establish an email address for you to send concerns and thoughts on issues. I will read them before making any decisions
  • Perhaps, if it is feasible, I will hold a monthly meeting on important matters coming up at the council
  • For people who do not have a computer I will have a phone with an answer machine for calls and will try to address either by a phone call back or with a resolution within the week depending on the complaint and situation. Obviously all emergency calls need to go to the proper authorities
  • I will also be available to help with any problems within the ward and will guide you in finding the right department at City Hall to help resolve issue
I encourage you and your friends and neighbors to become registered voters in the city.  Exercise your right and vote!
Thank you!
Debbie Brown
